The Journey Continues...Resurrected

The last time I posted here on the topic of the millennium was just under 3 months ago. For those of you that have been scratching your heads saying...What happened Mike?

Well, a funny thing happened to me on the way to the rapture...LoL

That's probably the funniest line I've heard in a long time. Thanks Brian Martin.

Anyhow...I've resurrected this vein of thought over at http://resurrection.tv

Part 23 - The Sun, The Moon and God's Judgment

Thank you again for following along with me on this journey of discovery. I sat down this morning to share a little bit with you about where I am currently at in my studies on Covenant Millennialism when I was derailed by this question about geocentrism and Joshua fighting against the Amorites. And so I felt it necessary to share with you a couple of thoughts I had on Joshua's long day.

The Sun, The Moon and God's Judgment

Joshua 10:12-14

Then Joshua spoke to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel:

“Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.” So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, Till the people had revenge upon their enemies.

Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the LORD heeded the voice of a man; for the LORD fought for Israel.

Part 22 - Dominion Chiasms of The Bible

In part 21 of this series, "Covenant Millennialism - The Synthesis Solution," we looked at the Book of Revelation as a chiastic structure. That is we considered the possibility that the text could very well be presented in outline form, such as "A B C X C' B' A", where the "X" represents the center of the chiasm, emphasizing that the center of the chiasm marks a place of special emphasis.

Please take another moment to consider the following

Part 21 - The Apocalypse as Hebrew Poetry

Is it possible that we have been drawing conclusions about the Revelation/Apocalypse of Jesus Christ with only part of the available data?

As many of you are aware Bryan Davis and myself(Michael J Loomis) have a conversation every Monday morning on Chiasm's in the Scriptures. A chiasm or chiasmus (ky-AZ-mus) n . is a reversal in the order of words ( or concept) in two otherwise parallel phrases, called a reverse parallelism. It is a literary form used by ancient writers to communicate maximum amount of meaning in minimal amount of space. A simple example of a chiasm would be , "Never let a fool kiss you , or a kiss fool you." Source

Chiasmus (or chiasm) is a literary device in which

Part 20 - The Four Competing Millennial Views

In this edition of, "Covenant Millennialism - The Synthesis Solution," we will begin looking at the different millennial systems that have been developed over the years. I believe we first need to see the strengths of each view to understand how the views can be synthesized into one cohesive system that will leave the least amount of loose ends. I'm still mulling over whether or not we even need to consider the weaknesses of each view.

What follows is a chart very basic chart that gives a general overview of each system. Minus the Bi-Millennial view.

Part 19 - Another Look At Hebrews 9:23-28

In Part 17 of this series called, "Covenant Millennialism - The Synthesis Solution," we looked at a handful of verses and the term coming as it is used throughout the New Testament. Today I want to take a look at the term, "Appearing," that we find in our modern English translations of Hebrews 9:23-28.

NOTE: First I want to thank Thomase Case and Ed Stevens for questioning my conclusions in Part 16. Which is exactly why I'm writing like this. Sharing it with everyone along the way so that I don't get to the end and find a foundational flaw. It's much easier to make course corrections along the way rather than finding out that your destination is the wrong one.

Thank you gentlemen...

Part 18-Here A Coming, There A Coming, Everywhere A Coming Coming!!!

2128

In Part 17 of this series called, "Covenant Millennialism - The Synthesis Solution," we looked at Jesus' coming/coming's. Specifically looking at the use of the term coming with clouds versus Him coming to them. The former being Jesus' coming in judgment in and through the destruction of Jerusalem described in Matthew 24, with the latter speaking of Jesus' coming to receive them unto Himself as described in John 14:1-3.

Yet the term seems to be used rather fluidly and depending on it's context could be speaking of many different kinds, direction or even duration in its use. Consider

Part 17-Coming to Them vs. Coming with Clouds

Part17
In Part 16 of this series called, "Covenant Millennialism - The Synthesis Solution," we continued our discussion on Hebrews 9:23-28, and whether or not it was talking about Jesus' second coming, as a one off event in AD70 or as futurists believe, sometime off in the future yet still. I believe after further investigation that it is not. In this part of the series I would like for us to consider some of the passages that speak about Jesus coming to His followers while contrasting them with passages that speak about Jesus coming in the clouds. This will not be an exhaustive study...But simply a representative one do demonstrate the case while sparking conversation to help us better

Part 16-A "Second" Look at second in Hebrews 9:28

Part16

In Part 15 of this series called, "Covenant Millennialism - The Synthesis Solution," we continued our discussion on the second coming in general and Hebrews 9:23-28 specifically, where I asked the question, "Is Hebrews 9:28 speaking of the second coming...Or something else?"

A "Second" Look at second in Hebrews 9:28

As I suspected it would Part 15, did stir up some more conversation as I'm positive this one will too...8-) One person suggested that there are 3 appearing spoken of in this passage. Which is the same response I received from Ed Stevens when I asked him about this passage. However, I think the text of Hebrews 9:23-28 actually prevents the existence of anything more than two appearing's. Let me

Part 15-Hebrews 9:28 Second Coming or Something Else?

Part15

In Part 14 of this series, "Covenant Millennialism the Synthesis Solution," I asked the question, "Is the second coming in the Old Testament?" I asked this question because I just cant find it. If Jesus or the authors of the New Testament were actually talking about a second coming(advent) we should be able to find it in the Old Testament.

Why you ask? Well...Because we can see on virtually every page of the New Testament that what was being taught was nothing new. They were simply reiterating and through the Spirit unveiling that which was a type, shadow or veiled in the Old Testament. And I believe most futurist scholarship on this topic makes it very clear that the Old Testament speaks nothing of a second coming(advent) or secondary aspect to the work of Jesus regarding salvation. Or they will suggest that it is in there, but that it was shrouded in mystery. Mainly because of certain statements about the
